Family News in 2006: 11/23/2006 Reviewing all of the genealogical records, we are becoming more, and more convinced that all of the Steinschneiders listed under the Prossnitz, Austria section are somehow connected to Rabbi Gabriel Steinschneider, as only one child can be documented under his name. He likely had several others. It also appears likely that both the Polish and Russian lines may be connected at the Rabbi Gabriel level as well. Due to the rarity of the name, and the likelihood that it appeared as early as the late 15th century, we are very likely all related. A record exists indicating that a Rabbi with the name Steinschneider lived in Antwerp during the late 15th century. Is this the missing link? At the very least, it would be nice to find records showing all of the descendents of Rabbi Gabriel in Possnitz, since this would probably tie several of the loose lines together. 02/19/2006 The Pilsen line of Steinschneiders outline report and the Rabbi Gabriel Steinschneider outline report have been updated. |
